I took over as the graphic designer and social manager for the Kan-Kan Cinema in February 2022 in a freelance capacity, charged initially with improving / developing the voice of the Cinema—you know how it goes, you get an MFA in creative writing so people ask you to write things. I pitched back: I'll absolutely make the voice right for Indianapolis' only nonprofit, arthouse, locally grown cinema, but I'm also going to make the graphics right, too. So many other cinemas simply slap their logo and a starting-on date over a film's poster. But the cinema is a creative, artistic space and I wanted to honor that + give the followers things as thoughtful, beautiful, and intentional as the films the Kan-Kan shows.

Over the first year running the account, the Instagram alone saw a 32% increase in followers, a 64% increase in post engagements, a 109% increase in total reach, and tons of great feedback—including some praise from some folks who work on the movies, like an animator on Marcel the Shell with Shoes On really enjoying my mashup with Nope when we had both playing.
